Dr Amandeep Singh

Assistant Professor

Dr Amandeep Singh is working as an assistant professor at the Department of Liberal Arts Humanities and Social Sciences, MAHE, Bengaluru. He is a suicide prevention researcher. He worked with suicidal ideation/behaviour, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and addiction disorders. He has a PhD in suicide prevention among Punjab's young and worked as a Project Technical Officer in ICMR’s project in Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, Punjab. In addition, he has a Diploma in Community Psychology from NIMHANS in Bangalore. He is fluent in French, English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi languages. He was a Senior Research Fellow on the national project "Addressing Farmers' Suicide through Capacity Building of Farming Families" by National Agricultural Scientific Research (NASF) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) where he worked with distressed farmers of Punjab, Maharashtra, and Telangana. He worked as a community counsellor and leader of the mental health team that gave hardiness trainings to proclaimed addicts of Patiala district in the small project on "Alcohol and Tobacco Consumption in India" in 2019 for three months. He has 11 peer-reviewed research publications, 7 research articles, and 2 book chapters. He has presented his work in 22 national and international conferences. He has conducted several seminars/workshops on suicide prevention, mindfulness, mental health, peer support, addiction, and other mental health issues. He has been a recipient of "Prof. Deepak Bhatt Award" thrice for community research.
