Dr Divya Kalavala

Assistant Professor

Divya Kalavala has been teaching English language, literature, media, and cultural studies courses to university-level students. She has a doctoral degree in Film Studies and Visual Culture at The English and Foreign Languages University, Hyderabad. Her research interests revolve around the questions of caste, gender and sexuality in popular culture. Her work on stardom is published as a book chapter in Stardom in Contemporary Hindi Cinema, which explores the intersection of genre and gender in contemporary Hindi cinema. Over the past decade, she has presented papers at national and international conferences that engage with the questions related to her research interests. She is also interested in translations; both as a practitioner and a researcher and she is primarily interested in translating works from the margins.
