Assistant Professor

sumathi nagesh is a multidisciplinary scholar and teacher, she/her is interested in Performance Studies/Theatre Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Adaptation Theory and Practice, Folklores, Graphic Novels and Narratives, Visual Culture among other academic areas. She is currently working on Ibsen’s cultural adaptation to Kannada theatre. Her teaching philosophy is student-centric and uses theatre games and techniques to facilitate a fun and experiential learning of literatures. Besides the classroom, she takes her interest in theatre and gender into the world outside too. A trainer for gender sensitivity and theatre, she has facilitated several training programs for well-known organizations and institutions. Owing to her training in street theatre and theatre of the oppressed techniques, she is a strong advocate of creating an inclusive classroom, her teaching strives to break the hierarchies of a traditional classroom and step outside the four walls of a classroom.
