Research Focus:
Our research focus on the potential of extracellular vesicles, particularly exosomes derived dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs) as a promising therapeutic agent for treating hippocampal neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). We have reported the neuro-immunomodulatory, neuroprotective, neurogenic and disease modifying potential of DPSCs/DPSC-Secretome/DPSCs exosome in in vitro and in vivo models of hippocampal neurodegeneration. DPSC-based therapies hold promise for treating Alzheimer’s disease, TLE, and possibly other neurodegenerative conditions characterized by hippocampal dysfunction. Currently we are exploring the precise mechanisms through which DPSCs and its exosomes exert their neuroprotective, neurogenic effects which could lead to the development of more targeted therapies.
