CURRENT ACADEMIC ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Dr Rahul Sheshan Clare currently serves as Assistant Director at the Prasanna School of Public Health, Manipal Academy of Higher Education. He is a multifaceted solution-oriented professional with a unique blend of academic, administrative, clinical, and entrepreneurial expertise. A clinician with over a decade of experience in digital health and innovation, Dr Rahul Clare joined the Prasanna School of Public Health in June 2018 as the Executive Assistant to the founder Director, Dr Helmut Brand. He was closely associated with the leadership in setting up of the prestigious Prasanna School of Public Health (PSPH) at Manipal. His responsibilities included planning, implementation, administration, and coordination of the operations of the Institute while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, leading to the institution's strategic growth. He has been deeply involved in establishing PSPH, being ranked in the Shanghai Rankings 2024 (best in India) within seven years of inception. He is also an ISO 9001:2015 QMS and ISO 45001: 2018 OHSMS Lead Auditor as certified by CQI/IRCA through TUV Rheinland.
He has significantly contributed to the curriculum development of the Executive Training Programme in Drug Development and Regulatory Science offered in collaboration with international partners. Being a strategic thinker and a solutions-oriented professional, he was part of the multinational Prevent IT Erasmus+ project (EU Commissioned) focusing on antimicrobial resistance.
As the coordinator of the Robert Bosch Centre for Health, Applied Research and Technology, Dr Rahul Clare served as the Principal Investigator for a multi-centric project associated with Robert Bosch with key activities, including overall project management from the start to implementation of large-scale clinical trials, and health technology assessments involving data collected from multiple states in the country.
Dr Rahul has edited a multilingual volume on “Are you eligible for free healthcare?” available in six languages apart from co-editing the book on “Climate Change and Public Health: Governance and Challenges” published jointly by Manipal Universal Press and Springer. His expertise includes health technology assessment, digital health policy-related research, and the transformation of healthcare settings towards digitalization.
As the Coordinator, Centre for Digital Health, Applied Research and Technologies, Dr Rahul is involved in the development, validation, and subsequent implementation of digital health solutions at the institution. He also serves as the Coordinator of the Innovation Cell (PSPH) and Innovation Ambassador, Government of India. In this role, he mentors researchers and students to transform their innovative ideas into opportunities for entrepreneurship with social impact.
