Dr. Budheswar Dehury obtained master’s degree in Bioinformatics from Odisha University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar, India (2008) and later joined as a research fellow in Agri-Bioinformatics Promotion Programme hosted at Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat (2009-2014). Dr. Dehury received Ph.D. from Assam University, Silchar (2016) in Life Science and Bioinformatics and subsequently worked as Scientist-B at ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre, Bhubaneswar till 2018. Dr. Dehury has completed post-doctoral training in the Department of Chemistry, Demark Technical University, Denmark and Department of Biochemistry, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom (2018-2020) in the area of Computational Chemistry and Structural Biology. Later, Dr. Dehury joined as Young Scientist in Bioinformatics at ICMR-Regional Medical Research Centre, Bhubaneswar from 2021-2023. Dr. Dehury joined Department of Bioinformatics, Manipal School of Life Sciences, MAHE, Manipal as Assistant Professor from 4th January, 2024. Dr. Dehury’s research interest includes Microbial Drug Resistance, Machine Learning in Drug Designing, Metagenomics and Membrane Proteins. More specifically, he is mostly interested in understanding the role of gut-microbiome in various metabolic disorders through metagenomics and metatranscriptomics. He also interested in understanding the dynamics of solute carrier (SLC) transporters in lipid mimetic bilayers and development of family-specific inhibitors. He has also interest towards development of novel antiviral therapies for emerging pathogens using computational chemistry and machine-learning techniques. Dr. Dehury has authored more than 100 research articles in peer reviewed national and international journals including International Journal of Biological Macromolecule, JPC Letters, Computers in Biology and Medicine, Journal of Biological Chemistry, RSC Advances, PLOS ONE, Journal of Cellular Biochemistry and etc. Dr. Dehury has got several awards like Young Scientist, Novo Nordisk Postdoc, BARVE Fellowship etc. Dr. Dehury is currently serving as Academic Editor of PLOS ONE and Associate Editor of Frontiers in Pharmacology.
