‘A Day with Jayant Kaikini and his literature,’ a one-day symposium on the literature of renowned award-winning author Jayant Kaikini, will be held on May 11, 2024, under the auspices of Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences, MAHE, Manipal.

“In order to shed more light on the writings of such an important writer as Jayant Kaikini, particularly for those who cannot understand Kannada, this symposium is being organized primarily in English,” said GCPAS Head Prof. Varadesh Hiregange in a press release.

The symposium will include special sessions on different genres of Kaikini’s writings, such as short stories, poetry, essays, plays, and songs, students’ presentations, and a screening of the documentary made on Kaikini. “This is also an attempt to take the literature of Kaikini, to the students in particular and understand the very purpose of literature,” said Prof. Hiregange.

The symposium will be inaugurated by writer-scholar Prof. Rajendra Chenni at 10.00 am at Planetarium Auditorium, MAHE, on May 11, 2024.  This will be followed by a session on Jayant Kaikini’s literature. Ms Abhilasha Hande, Dr. SirajAhmed, and Prof. Varadesh Hiregange will speak in the session.

This will be followed by students’ presentations on different works of Kaikini. There will be an interaction with Avinash Kamat followed by Jayant Kaikini’s songs by Ms ShravyaBaasri. Author Kaikini will interact with students at 4.30 pm in the evening in Kaikini. All sessions will take place in the Planetarium auditorium, MAHE
