Role of remote ischaemic conditioning in prevention of contrast induced nephropathy following percutaneous coronary intervention: a randomised controlled trial

Principal Investigator: Dr. Indu Ramachandra Rao

Co-investigator: Dr. Ganesh Paramasivam, Dr. Ravindra Prabhu, Dr. Shankar Prasad Nagaraju, Dr. Tom Devasia

Funding agencies: ICMR

Brief overview: Remote ischaemic conditioning (RIC) is a technique in which brief periods of ischaemia in a remote vascular bed provides protection against prolonged ischaemia in a distant (target) organ.

-It is a non-invasive, non-pharmacological, safe and virtually cost-free novel technique.

-This study aims to study the effect of RIC on renal outcomes in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.
