Coursera prizes won by students

 

Ms. Keerthi Priya, Research Scholar from the Department of Pharmacology, MCOPS has won first prize in #LearnASkill contest at the institution level, conducted by 'Coursera for Manipal Global.' Mr. Sanju Rajan, Sixth year Pharm D and Ms. Ashima Panjwani, BPharm final year student won the second and third prize. They received the prize from Dr. H Vinod Bhat, Vice-Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal during the award ceremony conducted on 17 October 2018

 

Travel grant bagged by research scholar from Society for the study of xenobiotics

 

Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, MAHE congratulates Mr. Vivek Ghate, a Senior Research Fellow at the Department of Pharmaceutics for being awarded a Travel Grant from the Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (SSX), India for attending the 3rd Conference of the Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (SSX), India held at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore from 10th - 13th October, 2018. Vivek also had an opportunity to be mentored by Dr. Sandhya Mandlekar, Head, PCO (Pharmaceutical Candidate Optimization) at Biocon Bristol-Myers Squibb Research Center, Bangalore, India during the conference. He is pursuing his Ph.D. at Dept. of Pharmaceutics, MCOPS under the guidance of Dr. Shaila Lewis, Associate Professor (Senior Scale) and Dr. B.S. Jayashree, Professor, Dept. of Pharm. Chemistry

 

ISPOR Travel Grant Award

Mr. Hardik Bhatia, pursuing MPharm (pharmaceutical administration) in department of pharmacy management, MCOPS has been selected for ISPOR meeting travel grant award to attend the ISPOR Asia Pacific 2018 conference in Tokyo, Japan during September 8-11, 2018. The grant includes complimentary registration and travel expenses for the ISPOR Asia Pacific 2018 conference.

 

Research scholars selected in the finals of ClimateLaunchpad 2018

Mr. Vivek Ghate (Dept. of Pharmaceutics) and Mr. Raghava Varma (Dept. of Quality Assurance) Research Scholars of MCOPS have been selected for the National Finals of the ClimateLaunchPad 2018 to be held during the month of September 2018. ClimateLaunchpad is the world’s largest green business ideas competition and is a part of the Entrepreneurship offerings of Climate-KIC. Climate-KIC creates opportunities for innovators to address climate change and shape the world’s next economy. Climate-KIC is funded through the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, an initiative of the European Union. They accelerate innovation that enables a low-carbon future. One of their core activities is the Climate-KIC Accelerator, the rock-solid programme for cleantech start-ups where great ideas grow into great businesses.



IPC 2017 BEST POSTER AWARD

Ms Shawinki Rai, from M Pharm Part II (Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology), MCOPS, MAHE has received the best poster award in the 69th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC) 2017 held at Chitkara University, Chandigarh, India during 22-24 December 2017.  The topic was “Production of fungal Keratinase and its therapeutic applications” co-authored by Dr V M Subrahmanyam and Mr Venkatesh Kamath B, Department of Pharm. Biotechnology, MCOPS. 

 

Travel grant received to attend conference in Seoul

Ms Jyothsna Manikkath, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, received a travel grant from DST-SERB, New Delhi to attend 77th FIP World Congress on Pharmacy and Pharmaceuticals Sciences. The conference was held at Seoul, South Korea during 10-14, September 2017.   Jyothsna presented her PhD research work titled “Low-frequency ultrasound facilitated transdermal delivery of asenapine maleate” during the conference

 

Amir Reza Najmi receives best national student award by UISIA

 

Amir, a IInd  year M.Pharm student, Dept. of Pharmacy Practice, MCOPS received best national student award in the Iranian scientific competition in pharmacy field under medical category for the academic year 2017 on 6 December in Bengaluru. This award was constituted by Union of the Iranian Student Islamic Associations India (U.I.S.I.A) for Iranian students studying in various disciplines  in India . The selection is based on the curricular and co-curricular activities of the student during 2016-17 academic year. 

 

Sushil Y Raut receives first place for scientific poster at National Seminar

 

In the National Seminar titled "Lipid drug conjugates in drug delivery" held at JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty during July 14-15, 2017, Sushil Y Raut secured first prize in scientific poster presentation. Mr Raut is a research scholar working for his PhD under the supervision of Dr Srinivas Mutalik, professor in the department of pharmaceutics. This seminar was supported by DST and ICMR, Government of India, New Delhi.

 

Students of pharmacy practice clinch ISPE scholarship

The International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) granted a scholarship to attend the renowned 10th ISPE’s ACPE (Asian Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology). Research papers of Dr Varsha Prabhu (Research scholar) and PharmD students, Ms. Reshma Susan Reji, Ms. Florence James,  Ms. Gifty Maria James,  Ms. Kavitha Elsa Varghese and Ms. Reena Joseph Chacko has been selected.The conference will be held during 29-31 October 2017 at the Pharmacy Australia Centre of Excellence (PACE), School of Pharmacy, The University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia.

Ms Srujitha Marupuru, PharmD (Intern), Department of Pharmacy Practice is selected for PhD program in the Department of Health and Pharmaceutical Outcomes, University of Arizona (UA)- A public research university in Tucson, Arizona, United States. She is offered a complete scholarship by the university which provides a full coverage of tuition fee. Additionally, she has also been recommended for employment as a graduate research assistant with a stipend.

Mr Raghuvir Alias Varad Keni, Fifth PharmD, Department of Pharmacy Practice bagged the second prize in the pharmacology lecture update 2017 competition held on 4 March at MCOPS. His topic of presentation was " HIV Vaccine"

 

FIP -PSWC 2017 Travel Scholarship 

Ms Sangeetha Iyer, fifth PharmD, Department of Pharmacy Practice, MCOPS received prestigious PSWC 2017 travel scholarship to attend the 6th FIP Pharmaceutical Sciences World Congress [PSWC] to be held during 21-24 May 2017 in Stockholm, Sweden. The scholarship includes free registration, financial support for travel, accommodation and one year complimentary FIP Individual Membership.

  22. Late Shri Raghunadha Rao Kamineni award for the best performers in the subjects of Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology of Pharm D. The award was instituted by Mr Ramprasad Kamineni, our Alumnus, in the name of his loving father Late Shri Raghunadha Rao Kamineni. For the academic year 2014-15, the award goes to Ms Pires Nichelle Joanne Francis.
  23. Shri Sri Gopal Chandak Award for the best performer in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry subjects of I & II B Pharm, the award goes to Ms Srilaxmi G Rao. The Award was institute by Mr Ashok Chandak, our Alumnus, in the name of his loving father Shri Srigopal Chandak.

  • Ms Sangeetha Iyer of Fifth PharmD is awarded a travel grant to attend  Annual Congress of the Council on Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions (Euroheartcare-2017) organized by European Society of Cardiology in Jonkoping, Sweden commencing from 18-20 May 2017. The travel scholarship includes accommodation and other expenses.
  • Ms Sindhuja K, (fourth PharmD) bagged the first prize for the poster titled 'Assessment of quality of life (QoL) in non-metastatic breast cancer patients in a tertiary care hospital before and after chemotherapy' co-authored by Neena Chauhan, Shruthi Shetty, Kanav Khera, Prahlad H Yathraj and Karthik S Udupa in 68th Indian Pharmaceutical Congress held during 16-18 Dec 2016 at University College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Andhra University
  • Ms Reena Joseph, Fifth PharmD student received best poster award for study titled “Development and Evaluation of Onconurse Practice- A Smartphone Application for Oncology Nurses” co-authored by Nimmi Z, Sonal Sekhar M, Anisha S in  Two Day International Conference(CPEP-2016)- Frontiers of Pharmacy Practice in Clinical and Industrial Sector on 13-14 December 2016 at Crescent College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Payangadi, Kannur, Kerala.
  • Ms. Jyothsna Manikkath [research scholar of pharmaceutics] received the second prize in Oral Presentation at APTICON 2016, Manipal. Her paper was titled Synergistic Transdermal Delivery of Ketoprofen Using PAMAM Dendrimer and Sonophoresis
  • Ms. Aswathi, R Hegde [research scholar of pharmaceutics] received the second prize in Poster Presentation for her work on Skin Permeation Study of Dendrimeric Conjugates of Ketoprofen at APTICON 2016
  • Ms Sanchari Basu Mallik [research scholar of pharmacology] secured the first prize in Oral presentations on the paper titled Study of In-Vivo Protective Effect of Sodium Valproate against Chemotherapy Induced Cognitive Dysfunction at APTICON 2016
  • Mr Koteshwara Ananthamurthy [research scholar, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology] secured the second prize for the paper titled Simple, Improvised Method for the Isolation of Chitinolytic Actinomycetes at APTICON 2016
  • Ms. Kavyasri Immadisetti, PharmD Intern, Dept. of Pharmacy Practice received Scholarship from AIDS Society of India (ASI) to attend the ASICON 2016 to be held at Hotel Sahara Star, Mumbai from 7th - 9th October 2016.The scholarship includes conference travel and accommodation. Her research titled "Evaluation of potential drug-drug Interactions among the people living with HIV with Highly Active Anti-Retroviral Therapy at Kasturba Hospital" is accepted for oral presentation.
  • Ms. Srujitha Marupuru (PharmD Intern), Department of Pharmacy Practice won the first prize for the poster titled “Development and Evaluation of Onconurse Practice- A Smartphone Application for Oncology Nurses” co-authored by Nimmi Z, Sonal Sekhar M, Anisha S in the Conference on Technological Applications in Healthcare (TAHCON-2016) held during 17 and 18 September 2016 at Manipal University, Manipal
  • Fifth year Pharm.D students Ms.Sangeetha Iyer and Mr. Munawar Peringadi Vayalil attended EuroHeartCare – 2016, Annual Congress organized by Council on Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions (CCNAP) of European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and Hellenic Society of Cardiovascular Nursing which was held on 15th & 16th of April 2016, at Athens, Greece.
