MIT Pravesh 2024, the annual BTech Formal Orientation Program held on 16th July 2024 to 19th July 2024 at the campus provided new students with invaluable insights and guidance from esteemed alumni. 

On the first day, Rakhee A. Chachra, IBM's Global 5G Business Strategist and MIT alumna, shared her wisdom on personal and professional success. Drawing from her 20-year career, she emphasized the importance of defining success personally, enjoying life's journey, practicing patience, and embracing mistakes. Chachra highlighted critical thinking, adaptability, effective communication, and time management as essential skills, concluding that while MIT provides academic strength, life skills and experiences ultimately define success.

On the second day, Sandeep Dutta, Senior Managing Director at Accenture, offered a macro view of the Indian economy, emphasizing its rapid growth and opportunities. He noted India's position as the third-largest economy globally with a youthful workforce and projected the country's digital economy to reach $1 trillion in three years. Dutta urged students to aim for a CGPA of 8 or above, focus on self-development, build strong networks, choose internships wisely, and leverage MIT's extensive resources, likening them to a Ferrari in terms of opportunity.

The third day featured Madhav Nair, CEO of Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, Mumbai, who shared his experiences and insights. Nair focused on the value of lateral thinking, using examples from India's historical engineering achievements. He discussed the Fourth Industrial Revolution, emphasizing digitalization, data analytics, and robotics, and encouraged students to embrace fearless experimentation and continuous learning. Nair also stressed the importance of leadership and entrepreneurship in India's evolving economic landscape, maintaining a positive attitude, and seeking good mentors.

The final day concluded with Veena Shenoy, Deputy General Manager at Mercedes-Benz R&D, who shared her inspiring career journey. Shenoy highlighted the importance of effective communication, continuous learning, hard work, time management, and viewing feedback as a gift. She emphasized her mantra, "Hard work beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard," underscoring dedication and self-belief. Shenoy also stressed the value of lifelong learning and building strong, lasting relationships for career success.

MIT Pravesh 2024 provided new students with a comprehensive introduction to both academic and life skills, enriched by the experiences and wisdom of distinguished alumni, setting a strong foundation for their future success.
