The Department of Medicine, MMMC, offers teaching programs for undergraduates and postgraduates, patient care  at Dr TMA Pai Hospital, Udupi and clinical and collaborative research, with more than 40 publications in reputed medical journals.

Study

The Department of Medicine, MMMC, offers teaching programs for undergraduates and postgraduates. Undergraduate teaching is in the Phase I Stage III of MMMC curriculum. At the DrTMA Pai Hospital, Udupi, DNB General Medicine course is offered for 2 post-MBBS students per year. This is accredited by the National Board of Examination (NBE), New Delhi, and admissions are through the centralized counseling through the NBE.

Patient Care

The department offers patient care at Dr TMA Pai Hospital, Udupi – services include outpatient care (OPD), inpatient care in the wards, and intensive care along with non-interventional coronary care in a fully equipped intensive care unit (ICU) with ventilators, advanced cardiac monitors and support systems. The goal of the department is to combine evidence-based medicine with thoughtful consideration of each patient's needs to promote wellness and facilitate healing. 

Research

Faculty members of the Department of Medicine are actively involved in clinical and collaborative research, with more than 40 publications in reputed medical journals. Main areas of research interest include diabetes, thyroid disorders, stroke cardiac diseases, and infectious diseases including malaria, dengue, and salmonellosis. The faculty members have also presented their research work in various national and international conferences.
