Overview

The Department of Geopolitics and International Relations at MAHE offers a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programme designed to cultivate advanced research and analytical skills in geopolitics and international relations.The programme emphasizes quality research on critical themes impacting international politics. The  programme is also extremely rigorous and attempts to add value to the global geopolitical discourse from India's perspective. 

Research at the Department spans a diverse range of areas, including geopolitics, international security, strategic studies, foreign policy and diplomacy, defense and national security, India's global interactions, major powers (such as the U.S., China, and Russia), regional geopolitics, international organizations and multilateralism, environmental security, maritime security, strategic technologies and capabilities, nuclear futures and disarmament, as well as space and cyber security.

The Ph.D. candidates are given research assistant positions for major research projects conducted at the Department, provide teaching assistance, and help in mentoring the Masters students. They are also encouraged to conduct field visits to respective countries, regions and organizations to make their research as authentic as possible. The research scholars are given hands-on training to emerge as the next generation of academics in their respective fields. The TMA Pai scholarship is made available by MAHE for non-UGC-JRF Ph.D. candidates.
