The most glorious phase of one’s life & one of the most interesting stage that gives us an opportunity to explore is the College phase. My experience at SOAHS, Manipal has taught me one fundamental thing-life is unpredictable.
Lying in the lap of Western Ghats in the district of Udupi-the famous temple town Manipal is a perfect blend of joy & hardships. When people arrive first the beauty of this place makes them fall in love even before they educate themselves of facilities it has got to offer. You feel like you are in some foreign University after getting a glimpse of Edu building-the heart of Manipal, Search-The health sciences library, museum 0f anatomy & pathology, the interact lecture halls & the one & only state of art Marena-The indoor sports complex. While walking through the lanes of University towards the end- point: a perfect site to view sunrise & sunset you can mesmerize the beauty of nature looking at the smiling flowers & chirping birds.
This University town is home to more than 25000 students. The best thing about this place is that you will find everything at a walkable distance from your place of stay-be it bank or if you get bored of mess food, don’t panic! You have multiple cuisine options nearby you including Dominos, KFC, Mac D & various restaurants.
It’s not just an educational town. It’s a different world altogether. The tagline of MAHE goes by “Inspired by Life”. I met different people from different states, different countries, different cultures interacted with them & learnt about their cultures and grow as person. Manipal gifted me two precious gems who will be so precious to me throughout my life. The first gem is Romesh Nayak who is a staff at Kasturba Hospital-the associate hospital of MAHE. I don’t remember how we became friends but now we share a bond of brothers. After meeting him I also realized that blood relations are important but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they are positive relationships. It’s truly said who needs superheroes when you have a brother. He’s my elder brother & I am his Lil bro. I have learnt a lot of valuable things about real life from him. Coming to the second gem is the one with whom I shared my room all these years in Manipal-Ayush Tandon from Lucknow. I am so blessed to have them both in my life.
In 4 years I spent in Manipal I had as much as fun possible-working in fest, organizing fests, anchoring conferences, being associated with various committees, planning trips to Goa, Kundadri, Agumbe, etc. Playing with seniors & juniors alike, Manipal is a place that takes you away from the current world to its own little Universal world. If one is willing to get up and do something, you are liable to have some fun.
One more thing which I learnt at Manipal is always to be happy and not to compare yourself with other in any small perspective. Try learning from people & don’t compare would be my advice. This is because everyone has different skill sets & different interests. From hostel to mess to classrooms to clinical postings we had so much of fun everywhere. I have so much memories associated with this prestigious institution that will remain in my heart forever.
Last but not the least “Manipal” the word is a love for me from the very first day I landed in Manipal & it is there till date & will continue forever.
