What makes MIT so special?

It is remarkable as to how many engineering colleges India is a home to. From the top notch institutions like the IITs to the third-tier institutions like the local colleges – all of them award the same degree but each provides an experience unique. Every person as a child dreams of a fantastic college life and every college strives to make this dream happen.

As a kid, even I used to fantasise about a perfect college life. Now, my college life may not be as perfect as they were in my fantasies but it sure isn’t inadequate. I came to Manipal to discover myself away from the pampering that I had endured for the past 17 years. Living all my life in a polluted city, I have never been this close to nature. The continuous green’s and brown’s allured me to this place like nowhere.

Watching different evening skies and different patterns of Sunset enticed me. Talking to various professors made me realise that unlike many engineering colleges, professors here actually care about you, give you their unreserved attention if you ask for it which is indeed very helpful. The food here at MIT is considered as one of the best in all of India and the hostel facilities are world-class.

We have water coolers at every floor, cleaning staff coming every two days and caretakers to take care of us in case of medical emergencies. What more luxury can one ask of, from a hostel? But what really stands out is the variety of people. The diverse population that comes to attend this institute is really very prominent. And I am not just talking out the geographical diversity but also the intellectual one.

This institute will give you a chance to try your hand at everything. How so? Well, for starters, we have clubs (both technical and non-technical) and student projects which are fully governed by the students and no interference is made by the teachers.

We have the Marena for the sports-fanatics. Marena has been equipped with world-class sports facilitates for all kinds of sports. The number of fests, events, workshops, etc. happening here in unlike anywhere else! We have something going on every single day. You will find your board filled with publicity for these events. Participating in these might give you insight on so many different things. Hence, we can safely say that MIT is a place where self-discovery is always on the radar.

Another thing that makes Manipal special is how easily does people accept others around them. We have people from all over India and people from foreign countries but the way they blend in, establishing friendships for lifetime is absolutely exquisite. This further strengthens the cultural bond of MIT alumni.
