5-Day National level Training and Workshop on ‘CBRN Disaster: Collaborative Resilient Strategies for Preparedness and Response’: March 06 to 10, 2024

Department of Chemical Engineering, NITK (National Institute of Technology Karnataka), Surathkal and Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO), Delhi jointly organized the 5 Day National level Training and Workshop on ‘CBRN Disaster: Collaborative Resilient Strategies for Preparedness and Response’ in the Seminar Hall, Lecture Hall Complex C, National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), from March 06, 2024, to March 10, 2024.
Ten Students of the MPH Programme, Prasanna School of Public Health (PSPH), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal – Dr Sakir K K, Dr Harijith K R, Dr Greeshma Unnikrishnan, Dr Srajana, Dr Preetha S, Ms Nidhi Pandey, Ms Shweta Prabhu, Dr Ashwin Sudhakaran, Dr Haritha Vinod and Ms Asha Rani participated in the workshop.
The workshop focussed on the need for a multi-sectoral approach to ensure adequate preparedness and response for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) emergencies. The workshop included expert presentations from organizations such as National Institute of Disaster Management, District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), INMAS-DRDO, New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA), Indian Coast Guards, Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), Department of Factories Boilers Industrial Safety and Health, Government of Karnataka and more. The sessions also included simulation exercises organised by the Department of Emergency Medicine, KMC Manipal and Mock Drills on Fire Safety and CBRN Emergency Response by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Karnataka State Fire and Emergency Services.
