Inbound Mobility

Eligibility

  • Visiting student must be currently enrolled in an accredited institution outside India.
  • Visiting student must have completed at least one full-time year of study at an accredited university abroad.
  • If the home institution is partnered with MAHE, nominations should reach us through the international office at home institution. If your home institution is not partnered with MAHE, student can apply with their prior approval. A ‘No objection letter’ from the home institute is mandatory and you will be considered as study abroad student. Click here for the list of partners.
  • Visiting student must hold average to above-average results in university studies to date
  • The language of teaching at MAHE is English. Hence, visiting student should have an IELTS score of >6.5 or equivalent language proficiency certification from the home institution.
  • Visiting student must meet specific course prerequisites for admission into certain courses, if any.
  • Additionally, visiting student must fulfil Indian visa requirements as per the mandate by Government of India.
  • Credit earned for courses successfully completed at MAHE is normally transferable towards the visiting student’s degree at the home institution. However, it is the responsibility of the student to complete the subject mapping and be aware of the credit transfer system before commencement of the program.
  • Please note that as an Incoming Study abroad/ Exchange / Elective student, the student will not be awarded a degree at the end of their studies at MAHE.

Exchange criteria 

  • If you are a student from a partner university, you must pay tuition fees to your home institution based on their fee requirements or the tuition fee at the host institution depending on the nature of agreement. For details, contact the international office at home institution.
  • If you are a student from non-partner university, based on the course of choice, the student is payable for the tuition fee as per the host institution mandate.
  • Fee for the summer schools may vary based on the program. Contact the program coordinators at home or host institution for details.
  • Visiting student is responsible for the accommodation and other miscellaneous costs during his/ her stay in the campus. For details click here.

Visas

  • It is advisable to opt for a Student visa/ Intern visa/ Entry (x) visa/ Research Visa/ Conference Visa according to the purpose of your visit. Should there be any visa-related queries, contact the nearest embassy of India/ travel agent/ international program coordinator at home university.
  • On confirmation of your itinerary, update your arrival details to OIAC.
  • Short-term visiting students, interns, exchange students are requested to report to OIAC within a day or two of arrival on campus for administrative formalities. Office visiting hours will be provided in your program itinerary.
  • Foreign guests/ speakers can opt for any applicable visa as recommended by their home university and/ or the nearest Indian embassy.
  • Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)-Foreign nationals who possess valid OCI cards do not require an Indian visa. They must upload a copy of the OCI card while completing the application.
  • Other foreign students are strictly advised to apply for the visas (mentioned in point 1 above) only. Tourist visa visits shall not be entertained. Kindly ensure to apply for an appropriate visa and read the visa regulations carefully before applying.

 

Registration at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (e-FRRO)

All foreigners bearing an Indian visa should comply e-FRRO process implemented through the Bureau of Immigration, Government of India. Any foreign visitor to campus must fulfill this formality in the following events. 

  • If the foreigner’s visa has an endorsement stating ‘FRRO registration required’ (and/or) 
  • If the individual intends to stay in India is more than 180 days

The registration should be mandatorily completed within 14 days of arrival to India. No fee is charged for registration, but a penalty in Indian currency equivalent to US$ 30 is charged in case of late registration by the FRRO authority. For more information click here or visit the Bureau of Immigration.

 

Outbound Mobility

 

Eligibility

All opportunities are applicable only for the students enrolled as fulltime students at MAHE studying in semester 3 and above. Students interested in pursuing a short-term mobility or a semester exchange abroad may please contact the faculty coordinators of international office at their respective institutions for detailed information.

 

Undergraduate:

  • Should be enrolled as a fulltime student at the time of the proposed program
  • Should have consistent academic performance with a CGPA > 7 (without backlogs and having no disciplinary action), following the completion of two semesters of their current program of study.

NOTE: The semester exchanges will be allotted to the students subject to the opportunities available. It is the discretion of the partner university to enroll the students for relevant programs.

Postgraduate:

  •  Enrolled as a fulltime student at the time of the proposed program
  •  Should have a consistent academic performance and CGPA > 7 (without any backlogs and having no disciplinary action), following the   completion of one semester of their current program of study.

NOTE: The semester exchanges will be allotted to the students subject to the opportunities available. It is the discretion of the partner university to enroll the students for relevant programs. 

 

Opportunities

MAHE Sponsored Program:

  • Medical Student Exchange Program

Medical profession demands hands-on experience and case study reporting. A medical elective abroad is a lifetime opportunity for the students to explore niche areas in a different country altogether and learn the best practices to hone their skills for a better professional career. MAHE has been organizing a unique four-week clinical posting for its meritorious students every year at some of its partner universities in Europe, UK and Australia.

Nominations

  •  Meritorious students get an opportunity for a sponsored elective program by MAHE.

Third year medical students are nominated (ranked and shortlisted) to attend medical elective postings at some of the reputed partner universities.

 

Non – MAHE Sponsored Programs:

  • Study Abroad Program

The program provides an opportunity for a student to spend some time abroad. Students can study at an international partner/non-partner university by paying the tuition fee to host university. The study can last for a semester, a year or even more with credit transfer and academic mapping.  Students are responsible for their boarding, insurance and travel expenses.

Nomination and Process

  •  Students can approach the University international office through their institution coordinators.
  •  International office in MAHE in turn sends the request to the international partner university.
  •  Students to complete the application and fee payment formalities at the host university
  •  A learning agreement is signed, with credit and subject mapping formalities
  •  International Office issues the nomination letter or/and supporting documents as per the requirement.
  •  International partner university, upon completion of the program, sends the exchange student transcript to the University International Office.
  •  Transcript is sent to the institution/exchange student.
 
  •  Student Exchange Program/Semester Exchange Program

The students get an opportunity to study at a partner university for a semester or two as part of the exchange program. Students can study at an international partner university for a semester or a year with credit transfer and academic mapping with mutual bilateral exchanges at both the universities. Under this program, the students do not pay any tuition fee to the host university but are responsible for their boarding, insurance and travel expenses. 

Nominations

  •   Number of bilateral exchanges available at the host university is disseminated down to the constituent institutions
  •   Shortlist the nominations for outgoing students from the constituent institutions
  •   Students to complete the application formalities at the host university. (fee payment at the home university only). A learning agreement is         signed, with credit and subject mapping formalities
  •   International Office issues the nomination letter or/and supporting documents as per the requirement.
  •   International partner university, upon completion of the program, sends the exchange student transcript to the University International Office.
  •   Transcript is sent to the institution/exchange student.

 

  •   Erasmus+ Mobility Program (ICM)

The Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility is an initiative by the European Union that supports the international exchange of students, academics and capacity building opportunities between cooperating institutions. The program provides scholarship and funding for study abroad programs, student and staff mobility for academics and professional training at the partner universities applying for Erasmus+ mobility fellowships. MAHE in association with European partners has been providing an opportunity for student and faculty exchanges both inward and outward.

 

Nominations

  • Partner university associated with ICM program sends the slots available to Manipal every year
  • MAHE shortlists the nominations for outgoing students/faculty
  • Student shall then complete the application formalities at the host university as well as home university
  • A learning agreement should be signed, once credit and subject mapping is complete, OIAC shall issue a nomination letter or supporting document to the student.

 

  •   Summer/Winter Schools

The students attend summer schools that usually last for two to four weeks duration. These immersion programs are a blend of academic and cultural ethos and provide a holistic learning experience to the students. Usually held during spring/summer/fall seasons, these programs serve as a foundation to the students and bring back the best practices back home.

 

Nominations

o   Student can participate in any summer or winter school abroad as per his/ interest and plan the visit on their own

o    It is mandatory for the students to obtain ‘No Objection Certificate’ from OIAC as well as complete online application formality at home university.

 

  •  Overseas Internships

MAHE encourages students to go abroad for internships or conducting research on various topics.

Nominations

  • Any on roll student can visit their university of interest abroad to join an internship or research opportunity. 
  • If enrolling for a partner university, OIAC can refer them to the international office at the host university. Click here to know the list of partner universities.
  • It is mandatory for the students to obtain a 'No Objection Certificate' from OIAC as well as complete online application formality at home university.
