The Department of Biotechnology, MIT, Manipal organized a 2-day hands-on workshop on Biologics and Vaccine Design by M/s Schrodinger, Bengaluru from 27-28 July 2022. After a formal welcome by the Convener and Head of the Department, Dr S Balaji, the audience were addressed by the Chief Guest, Dr. B.S. Satish Rao, Director, Research – MAHE and Director, Manipal School of Life Sciences, Manipal. Dr Rao emphasized on the importance of modelling tools in research involving biotechnology. The event was presided by Commander Dr. Anil Rana, Director, MIT, Manipal. Dr. Pritesh Bhat, Principal Scientist and Dr. Prajwal from Schrodinger served as the resource persons for the Workshop. An alumnus of MCOPS, Manipal, Dr Pritesh expressed happiness in leading the event and elaborated on the concerted need for knowledge dissemination in the field of vaccine design. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of research scholars and faculty members of MAHE. The programme focused on the molecular design of biologics using BioLuminate a comprehensive integrated modeling package from Schrodinger. The valedictory function of the workshop was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Somashekara Bhat, Joint Director of MIT, and the Guest of honor, Dr. V. Ramachandra Murty, Associate Director, Development, MIT. The co-conveners Dr Kannan, Dr Subbalaxmi and Dr Mukunthan, faculty in the Department of Biotechnology helped to streamline and organize the event in a grand manner.
