'Matribhasha Diwas' Celebrated at WGSHA, MAHE

'Matribhasha Diwas' Celebrated at WGSHA, MAHE
As part of "Matribhasha Diwas, 2019", a debate was organised on topic "मातृभाषा राष्ट्र के लिए क्यों आवश्यक है?" / Why Matribhasha is necessary for the Nation? for BHM students on Thursday, 21 February 2019 at WGSHA. Students had great participation in which they highlighted on importance of Matribasha, its advantages on Indian society and education, and strategies that needs to be practiced to preserve the rich heritage and culture of India.
Matra basha diwas was celebrated by 3rd year students of Department of Culinary Arts (BA in Culinary Arts) on 22 February by showcasing a variety of performances ranging from poetry, speeches and songs to highlight the unique diversity in culture and language in India and how at the end of everyday even though we are separated by culture we are united through our tiles to mother India.
BA in Culinary Arts and Bachelor of Hotel Management students of WGSHA, Department of Culinary Arts of MAHE showcased their talent related to their mother tongue. Students presented videos which had great emphasis on Hindi, Kannada and Tamil languages. The students came forward with a presentation representing the history and culture of Hindi and the various other languages of our country including languages such as Kannada, Tamil and Bengali. Later on the event proceeded with students who sang patriotic songs in Hindi, Merwadi and Bengali representing their own states. The event also had an activity in which students were naming few fruits and vegetables in their own mother tongue.
The event had got all students to learn more about the different cultures and history in India.

The students and the Faculty of Department of Allied Hospitality Studies (I Year M.Sc., Hospitality and Tourism) celebrate the International Mother Language Day. The students have organised various events that highlights the uniqueness of different languages through Elocution, Singing, Dancing and a quiz program on mother languages. All the students have actively participated and enjoyed the pleasure of sharing the uniqueness of their mother languages.
