'Silk Route' food festival celebrated at WGSHA
September 10, 2014
The Ranjith House students of Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration organised a Pan-Asian themed food festival called the “Silk Route”, on the September 9-10. Guests were given a choice of five meal courses with delectable Chinese, Indonesian, Malaysian and various other Asian dishes in each course. The fest offered dishes such as Spring rolls, Satay, Manchow soup, Smoked turkey glass noodle salad, Nasi Goreng, Mandarin chicken, Mapo Tofu among others. The desserts were a delight as well. Fried cheese dumplings with homemade ice-cream and assorted fruit crepe, flambéed on a live counter, with chefs, serving it right from the pan to plate. The décor of the restaurant was notable. Paintings of Buddha, ancient Chinese dragons, Japanese Geishas and bamboo forests adorned the walls. There were also chalk-sketches of the Chinese zodiac, all hand-crafted by WGSHA's creative decoration team. The table center-pieces were molded from colourful clay, to look like dragons, which caught the eye and interest of all guests! The non-alcoholic bar, The Dragon’s Den, served mock tails such as Dragon’s Tale and Jade Monkey, with hints of ginger, lemon and mint were served with style by bartenders. The food festival was aimed at giving students an opportunity to put into practice what they learn in the classrooms. It gave them a taste of the actual life in the industry and helps mould their personalities, making them excellent managers and even better human beings.
