WGSHA's sustainability initiative: Fruitful steps towards sustainability-Planting for a greener tomorrow.
WGSHA July 31, 2024: As part of the undergraduate orientation program, WGSHA has engaged in a sustainable journey by planting various fruit saplings on campus. The initiative, guided by the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), saw students planting saplings such as Mango, Rose apple, Guava, Rambutan, Lemon, Sapota, Amla, Mangosteen, Cherry, Mulberry, Peanut butter fruit, and Starfruit. Principal Dr. Chef K Thirugnanasambantham inaugurated the event with an inspiring keynote address, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and responsible stewardship.
"Our efforts align with SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 15: Life on Land," he highlighted. He encouraged students to carry forward these principles, fostering a commitment to a healthier planet. Vice Principal P Rajshekhar, along with other faculty members and parents, joined the event. Students, under the guidance of Faculty in charge of sustainability club P Valsaraj and supporting faculty Chef Dayananda Prabhu, enthusiastically participated, pledging to nurture the saplings and contribute to a sustainable future.
