Workshop on role of Physiotherapy during Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond
As a part of Silver Jubilee Celebrations, the Department of Physiotherapy, MCHP Manipal is organizing a Two-day Workshop on “Role of Physiotherapy during pregnancy, birth and beyond” for Physiotherapy Interns, Physiotherapy Postgraduates and Professionals on 13th and 14th September, 2024.
The key highlight of the workshop is that the experienced Guest speakers Dr. Sriharika Jammula(PT), LCCE and Dr. Deanne Misquita (PT), IBCLC are Alumni of MCHP, Manipal Campus and have completed their Master’s in Pediatrics and Women’s Health in the years 2015 and 2016 respectively. The in-house speaker Dr.Preetha R., Ph.D., works as an Associate Professor and is the Academic and clinical in- charge of Women’s Health Physiotherapy in MCHP, Manipal
The workshop aims to equip physiotherapists to understand the assessment of low-risk and high-risk pregnant women and exercise prescription, to understand the use of adjuncts, positions and exercises during birth, to understand the issues related to lactation and its management, and to learn the assessment and management of Diastasis Rectus abdominus during the postpartum period. Through this hands-on workshop, the participants will have a clear understanding of their role in the treatment of women during pregnancy, birth and postpartum. The organizers of the workshop have planned demonstrations, practice sessions and case discussions to enable active learning and involvement by the participants. The registration fees include e-resources, e-certificate, registration kit, breakfast and lunch.
