The workshop is designed to equip novice researchers with nuances of writing a good research proposal and to provide hands-on training to develop a well-written research proposal. Registration is limited to 30-35 participants.

Learning objectives: The overarching goal of the programme is to empower the participants to develop a proposal independently. At the end of this programme the participants can attain the following specific skills:

  • To identify and refine feasible and worthwhile topic of research
  • To do a literature search and identify relevant source materials
  • To conduct a literature review, map the literature, and identify the research gap
  • To formulate the research problem in a specific context
  • To formulate research objectives and research questions
  • To formulate hypotheses and develop a conceptual design for the study
  • To write research methodology

The programme will be delivered face-to-face and intensive hands-on mode. It will be rigorous and interactive with several individual and group exercises. The participants can interact with accomplished scholars and fetch inspirational insights. Participants are expected to complete assignments based on the specific topics covered. The programme will be participant-centered and practical. The participants can have access to the Journals and databases subscribed by MIM during the training period. Every participant is required to bring their own laptop for practicals.

Fees: Rs.3,500/- per person (Rs.3,000/- for MAHE employees). Refreshments and lunch will be provided on the days of training.

Profile of the Resource Persons:

Dr K. Rajashekharan Pillai, Professor at the Manipal Institute of Management, MAHE, Manipal is a Doctoral graduate in Economics. He has three decades of experience in teaching and field research. His research interests comprise Developmental Economics, Behavioural Economics, Higher Education, and Tourism. He has co-authored one textbook and contributed chapters to edited volumes of academic textbooks and 70+ articles to national and international journals. He is a reviewer of 10 journals indexed in Scopus/Web of Science. He frequents research methodology workshops and training as a resource person.

Dr S Lakshminarayanan is having 24 years of experience in academics and research and around 5 years of industry experience. He is currently working as Professor with Manipal Institute of Management, MAHE, Manipal. His areas of interest include work-life balance, emotional intelligence employer engagement, and employee branding. He has contributed several papers in reputed national and international management journals. He has also presented papers in international, and national level conferences and chapters in edited volumes. He has organized several seminars and conferences in the area of human resource management. He has been a resource person for various outreach activities. He is a consultant for organizational streamlining and robust HR policy regimes.

Dr Yogesh Pai P, Associate Professor at the Department of Humanities and Management, Manipal Institute of Technology, MAHE, Manipal, India. He has a rich experience of two decades in academics and research. Operations Management and Service operations are his areas of research. He has published in international journals such as the Journal of Service Theory and Practice, and the International Journal of Bank Marketing. He is presently the Guest Editor for a special issue for the Journal Cogent Economics & Finance (Taylor and Francis Journals). He is also a member of the review board for various international journals.
