“Managing men, materials, methods and machines constitute the essence of operations management. The age-old dictum of Chanakya, “sam-daam-bhed-dand”, or the use of recognition, incentives, comparison, and punishment will go a long way in managing people. Balancing of assembly line is the key function of a Operations Manager in any business concern,” said Mr. Subhash H.S., the Operations Manager of Amazon(India) Ltd. He was speaking as the Chief Guest in the Operations Management conclave organised by the student club of School of Management in Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Mr. Subhash urged the MBA students of School of Management to concentrate on the basic concepts of operations management as it is these basics that are actually used in most of business operations. Furthermore, he analysed how the fundamentals in theories such as theory of queueing and theory of constraints would be of practical use when students work as managers of operations.

Mr. Jishnu Venugopal, delivered the welcome address. Dr. K.V.M. Varambally, gave an overview of the conclave. Dr. Rupa compered the programme.
