Workshop on “Communicating across Cultures”

International Relations Student Club of SOM in collaboration with Centre for Intercultural Studies & Dialogue, Manipal Academy of Higher Education conducted a workshop on “Communicating across Cultures” on October 28, 2017.
Dr. Praveen K Shetty, coordinator of the Centre for Intercultural Studies & Dialogue and Professor at the Dept of Humanities and Management, Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal gave insights into cross cultural differences and the various society values & etiquettes. He explained about the high & low context cultures & power differences across various nations.
He conducted role-plays and highlighted the importance of understanding cross cultural communication. Students also reviewed a film based on cultural diversity. They analyzed different cultural contexts that brings new communication challenges into the workplace.
