Guest Lecture Organized by Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized a guest lecture by Professor Sreekantha B Jonnalagadda, Senior Professor of Chemistry at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), Durban on “Nanocomposites as recyclable catalysts for green synthesis of novel bioactive molecules”.
Professor Sreekantha explained the development of environmentally friendly solid acid/base catalysts to minimize the effluents and pollution in the chemical industry. During his talk, he covered topics such as synthesis of catalyst and their usage in many multicomponent reactions to increase the yield of the products, emphasising on greener approach. He also elaborated on the importance of nanocomposites as catalysts in synthesis and how to select them. PG Students, Research scholars and faculty members participated in large numbers and were benefitted from his lecture.
Dr R S Jeyaprakash was the master of ceremony, Dr Ruchi Verma introduced the speaker to the audience and Dr Aravinda Pai proposed vote of thanks. The event was organized and coordinated by HOD, 𝗗𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗮 𝗚 𝗞𝗶𝗻𝗶.
