Department of Pharmacognosy has organized its second guest lecture through MST, during the morning session on Dec 20, 2021.  Mr. Hari Thej Chowdary Suryadevara, Director, Dr. Herb Health Mark private Limited, Hyderabad, India was the resource person for the same. The theme selected for the webinar was ‘Setting up Herbal industry in India’. Dr. Richard Lobo, Head of, Department of Pharmacognosy, welcomed the participants, and Dr. Vasudev R Pai, Assistant Professor Senior Scale introduced the speaker to the participants. Though an Engineer, Mr. Thej possesses a keen interest in Herbal medicine and has set up his own industry, Dr. Herb Health Mark private Limited, in Hyderabad. During the lecture, he deliberated on his industry and herbal products that are being manufactured and marketed and also about his collaborations with other industries. During the course, he stressed the importance of herbs and their preparation for treating various ailments. Mr. Hari Thej systematically explained to participates how to set up a herbal industry, its regulatory norms, and how to obtain subsidy by registering the industry under the MSME scheme of the Central Government of India. Overall, his talk was very informative and encouraging to the participants who have a keen interest in setting their own herbal industry or handling crude drugs. The lecture was well appreciated by the participants, after the lecture the speaker interacted with the participants and answered all the quarries raised by them. The lecture was attended by more than 50 participants. Dr. Vasudev R Pai, Assistant Professor Senior Scale coordinated the guest lecture and proposed the vote of thanks.
