Manipal Academy of Higher Education's MCOPS breaks into 251-300 range in QS World University Rankings 2017 by subject ‘Pharmacy & Pharmacology’
March 16, 2017
In what can be construed as global recognition of its unique standing among India’s thousand and odd pharmacy colleges, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS) has found its name in the top 251-300 colleges in the QS World University ranking in the Pharmacy and Pharmacology category, just behind Banaras Hindu University. Coming on the heels of it being ranked No.1 in India by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) of the Union Human Resource Ministry in 2016, this new ranking has helped propel MCOPS into the international arena as a centre of excellence in pharmaceutical sciences. As a premier institution under Manipal Academy of Higher Education, MCOPS has been in the forefront of education and research. Besides the university’s full support for infrastructural development, the college also receives several grants for research from government and non-government funding agencies. The students and staff of the college are justifiably excited on the institution breaking into world ranking. They have vowed to work assiduously to secure a much better global ranking by 2020. The ranking was based on four parameters: 1) Academic reputation 2) Employer reputation 3) Research citations per paper from Scopus database and 4) H-index. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) based in USA, analyses universities across the globe. This year, QS has introduced ranking in a total of 46 disciplines and ‘Pharmacy & Pharmacology’ is one among them.
