International Conference on Clinical Pharmacy – CPCON 2022 Report

The Department of Pharmacy Practice, in association with the Centre for Pharmaceutical Care, MCOPS organized CPCON 2022, the 7th International Conference on Clinical Pharmacy virtually on Microsoft Teams. The event was based on the theme “Pharmacist towards an Inclusive Healthcare system”. The three-day conference began with a pre-conference workshop by Dr. Krishna Undela (NIPER, Guwahati, India), on Evidence Synthesis.

Dr. Mahadev Rao, Professor, and Head of Department of Pharmacy Practice, MCOPS, gave an overview of CPCON on Day 1 of the conference and welcome the gathering. Speakers from various varsities with expertise in clinical pharmacy domains participated in the conference. The speakers for Day 1 were Dr. Melissa J Durham (the University of Southern California, School of Pharmacy, USA), Dr. Sathvik B Sridhar (RAK Medical and Health Sciences University, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE), Dr. Angelina Lim (Monash University, Australia) and Dr. Lee Vermeulen (University of Kentucky, USA).

The speakers for Day 2 were Dr. Meenakshi Sreenivasan (GSK, USA), Dr. Debasis Bagchi (VNI, USA), Mr. Robin George (Real Pharma Solutions Ltd, UK), and Dr. Haden Bunn (Pumas-AI. Inc,). The speakers shared their professional experiences in their respective fields. They also highlighted several opportunities for pharmacy students, as well as the skills required to study abroad.

A total of 186 national and international registered delegates participated in the event. A total of 109 scientific abstracts from diverse pharmacy domains were presented in the oral and poster categories. The oral presentations were evaluated by Dr. Kiran SS (College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Govt Medical College, Kannur, Kerala) and Dr. Manjula Devi (College of Pharmacy, SRIPMS, Tamil Nadu).

Dr. Rajesh V, Organizing Secretary – CPCON 2022 and Coordinator for Centre of Pharmaceutical Care declared the awardees and proposed a vote of thanks during the valedictory session.
