Guest Lecture on "Intellectual Property Rights"

The Department of Pharmaceutics, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (MCOPS), MAHE, Manipal organized a Guest Lecture entitled “Intellectual Property Rights” on 09 August 2023 at 04:00 pm in Prof. P Gundu Rao Conference Hall. Dr. S Varadharajan, Coordinator – Intellectual Property & Technology Transfer Office (IPTTO) and Associate Professor (Senior Grade), MIT, MAHE, Manipal was the resource person.
Understanding the patent process is essential for inventors to protect their inventions and innovative ideas. Through the various stages of patenting, individuals can safeguard their intellectual property, promote innovation, and contribute to technological advancement. By keeping this in mind, Dr. Varadharajan provided an overview of the various aspects involved in the patent process. While specifying what can and cannot be patented, he discussed certain types of inventions and subject matters that are generally not eligible for patent protection. He enlightened the audience with the key steps involved in patent processing and patent requirements. Dr. Varadharajan also discussed the benefits and challenges of patent.
Dr. Varadharajan interacted with participants and clarified the concerns raised. The lecture was attended by PG students, PhD research scholars, and faculty members of MCOPS. Dr C Mallikarjuna Rao, Principal, and Dr Srinivas Mutalik, Professor and Head, felicitated Dr Varadharajan. Ms. Pragathi, Research Scholar of Dept. of Pharmaceutics coordinated the program.
