World Pharmacists Day Celebrations at MCOPS

“The Pharmacy Industry is Recession Free” – were the words from the Chief Guest, Dr (Col) M. Dayananda, the Medical Superintendent and COO, Kasturba Hospitals, Manipal, during his inaugural address at MCOPS 25th September is celebrated internationally as the World Pharmacists Day. This year’s theme is “Pharmacist – Your partner in health”. The students of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education Association of Pharmacy Students (MAPS), MCOPS enthusiastically organized an array of events on 22-23 September 2015. The students took to the streets to display a skit on the theme ‘Pharmacy Profession in India’ which was admired by one and all. The keynote speaker for the program was Dr. Atmaram Pawar, Vice Principal, Pune College of Pharmacy, Bharati Vidyapeeth who gave an inspirational and motivational speech where he emphasized the role of pharmacists and the contributions made by them to the health care system. For the first time in MCOPS, the students organized a panel discussion about various pressing concerns of the students regarding the Pharmacy Profession. The panelists were representatives from BPharm, MPharm, PharmD and Research Scholars.
