FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM - 2022
The Continuing Nursing Education committee of Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal, organized Faculty Development Program (FDP) on July 28 & 29, 2022. The Chief Guest for the inaugural session Dr. Sathish Rao, Director, Directorate of Research, MAHE appreciated the efforts taken by the institution to be one among the top Nursing Institutions in India & congratulated Dean and her team for successfully holding FDP. He said organizing FDP would strengthen the knowledge and skills of faculty members and will prepare them to take up challenges.
The first-day session was on Evidence Gap Map for prioritizing future research, where Dr. Bhumika T V, Director General, Campbell South Asia, New Delhi spoke on the importance of evidence gap, title registration and dissemination. The demonstration session on RevMan was taken by Dr. Ravishankar, Assistant Professor, Department of Biostatistics, Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute, University of Delhi. The participants also had hands-on experience in RevMan Software during his session. The third session was on Covidence – Data extraction by Dr. Prasanna Mithra P, Additional Professor, Department of Community Medicine, KMC, Mangalore. The last session on Role of Systematic Review in Policy change was again deliberated by Dr. Bhumika T V.
On Day two, the first session was on Grant writing skills by Dr. Shama Prasada K, Associate Professor, Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, School of Life Sciences, MAHE, Manipal. He discussed the steps for applying for grants, types of grants, various grant calls and services and support available in MAHE for writing articles/ getting articles published and grants.
Dr. Malini Hebbar, Principal Swastika National School, Mangalore in her session on CHANGEMAKERS, highlighted on ways of understanding and dealing with current generation students and the significance of attitude change among students, which will bring positive outcomes. A session on Author café services and data repository was taken by Dr. Santhosh KV, Deputy. Director-Research, Directorate of Research, MAHE, Manipal. The participants had a hands-on session on the use of Author café services. The FDP concluded with a discussion on ways to improve classroom and clinical teaching by the faculty members. A total of 61 faculty members and 13 research scholars attended FDP 2022.
