Report on Professional Development and Career Guidance

A seminar was organized for IV year BSc Nursing students at Manipal College of Nursing on June 29, 2024, from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm, with a total attendance of 94 students. The session commenced with Dr. Leena Sequeira, Principal of Manipal School of Nursing, MAHE, who shared invaluable insights on nursing career advancements. Drawing from her 11-year tenure as a staff nurse in the hemodialysis unit at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, she discussed opportunities in both clinical and non-clinical areas.
Following Dr. Sequeira's address, Prof. Santhosh Nayak, Assistant Professor-Senior Grade, Department of Commerce, MAHE, Manipal, provided expertise on crafting effective CVs. He emphasized essential components necessary for a well-organized CV. Subsequently, Prof. Ravindra Shenoy, Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, MAHE, Manipal enlightened students on 'Corporate Etiquettes', focusing on workplace norms and professional conduct.
Dr. Vikram Baliga, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce, MAHE, Manipal, conducted a session on 'Handling Interviews', offering insights into commonly asked interview questions. The seminar was facilitated by Ms. Yana Sunil and Ms. Rose Maria Baby, IV year BSc Nursing students, who also delivered the concluding remarks.
In the afternoon, a skill development session was held at 2.00 pm in the Clinical Skill Lab of MAHE. Mr. Anil Raj, Assistant Professor, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, provided an overview, followed by hands-on demonstrations overseen by Dr. Sulochana, Associate Professor, Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, Mrs. Rishmitha and Ms. Catherine, Lecturers, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, and Mrs. Reshma, PhD Scholar, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing. The session focused on enhancing skills in canulation, concluding at 4 pm.
