Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Community Awareness Programme Report

The Department of Community Health Nursing, National Service Scheme (NSS) & Volunteer Services Organization (VSO) Units of Manipal College of Nursing (MCON), in collaboration with the Health Unit of Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd, organised a Swachh Bharath Abhiyan awareness program on 2nd October 2024, as part of the Swachhatha Hi Seva 2024 initiative. The event took place at the railway station in Udupi. The program kicked off with an inaugural ceremony graced by the esteemed presence of Dr. Shenoy, the President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Udupi Chapter. The Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Steven George, led the volunteers to take the Swachh Bharat pledge. A rally featuring impactful slogans on sanitation was conducted, creating awareness among the public. The volunteers distributed pamphlets to residences and shops during their house visits, sensitizing the community on the significance of maintaining a clean environment. The initiative was well received by all participants and garnered appreciation for its efforts towards promoting cleanliness and hygiene in the community. This collaborative programme is aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), 6 (clean water and sanitation), and 17 (partnership for the goals), as it serves to raise awareness about health and hygiene practices among the public, contributing to a healthier and cleaner environment for all.
