Guest Lecture on Good Study Habits and Reverence

A session on "Good Study Habits and Reverence" was organized by the Department of Child Health Nursing on August 5, 2024, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am as part of the Student Induction Program (DEEKSHRAMBA) for students admitted to the BSc Nursing course at the Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE Manipal, for the academic year 2024-2025.
Dr Vishnu Renjith, Program Director and Lecturer at the School of Nursing & Midwifery, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Ireland and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine, Cardiff University, United Kingdom, and Adjunct Faculty at Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, India, was the resource person
He emphasized the importance of good study habits and reverence for professional nurses. Given the semester-based system with an intense syllabus, assignments, clinical duties, theory classes, and strict attendance policies, students must follow key study tips for success. These tips include goal setting, effective planning, time management, creating an optimal study environment, taking regular breaks and reviews, and maintaining health and support. Techniques such as the Pomodoro Technique, Cornell note-taking method, and Feynman Technique were also discussed. Dr. Renjith highlighted various job opportunities in nursing, including roles in clinical practice, academia, research, consultancy, entrepreneurship, and administration. The session contributed to SDG 4: Good Health and Wellbeing.
Around 150 students and two faculty members from MCON attended the session.
