UGC activity on Panch Pran

Protecting our planet is the prime responsibility of all citizens across the globe. As part of Bharath Ka Amruth Mahotsav, the Government of India has planned activities towards promoting and protecting the environment. As per the UGC activity on Panch Pran, the Department of Community Health Nursing has organized activities to contribute to the protection of the environment.
A Drawing competition on the theme “ Lifestyle for the environment” was organized for school children of class 3 -7th in Government Higher Primary School, Athrady and Government Aided Higher Primary School, Hirebettu. Total 62 students participated in the drawing competition. The best ones were awarded with 3 prizes in both the Schools.
A guest lecture also was organized for the students of Manipal College of Nursing on the topic of “WE HAVE ONLY ONE EARTH” on 25-11-2022. The resource person for the program was Dr. Krishna Kothai, Emeritus Professor, Poornaprajna Centre for Research and Development, Udupi.
Dr Kothai enlightened the participants by quoting instances from his experience as an environmental scientist in caring the nature. He highlighted the importance of caring the environment for the future generation. He stretched the scope of nurses in caring the nature.
A total of 120 participants attended the session. It was a useful and interactive session and participants could acquire knowledge on the importance of organic farming and caring environment. Theses programmes were coordinated by Mrs Reshma, Lecturer, Mr Vinish Assistant professor under the guidance of Dr Shashidhara YN Head, Dept of Community Health nursing Manipal College of Nursing.
