Swachhatha Hi Seva 2024 Programme Report

The Health and Social Welfare Committee of the Students Nurses Association (SNA), Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, in collaboration with the Volunteer Services Organization (VSO) and National Service Scheme (NSS) units of MCON, organised a "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Awareness Programme" on 30th September 2024, as part of the Swachhatha Hi Seva 2024 initiative. The event was held at Government School, Athrady, from 1.30 pm to 4.00 pm and witnessed participation from 65 students and five teachers.

The programme commenced at 1.30 pm with a poetry and drawing competition centered around the theme of "Clean Environment." A total of 15 students showcased their creative talents during the competition, which concluded at 2.45 pm. Subsequently, a comprehensive awareness program was conducted. The event commenced with a prayer song led by Ms. Asvita and the group. Mr Arnold and his team exhibited an impactful role play, shedding light on health awareness, the importance of maintaining good health, and imparting essential hand hygiene techniques to the students. Ms. Asvita Pinto shared valuable insights into Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, emphasizing the significance of hygiene and practical ways to uphold cleanliness in one's surroundings. The headmistress of the school, Mrs. Saraswathi, felicitated the winners of the competition with prizes. The programme culminated with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Viola Fernandes. Ms. Riona Dsouza led as the master of ceremonies for the whole programme.

This initiative is in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), 6 (clean water and sanitation) and 17 (Partnership for the goals), as it serves to raise awareness about health and hygiene practices among school children, contributing to a healthier and cleaner environment for all.
