Guest Lecture on Care for Newborns on Ventilators

A guest lecture was organized for 1st-year PBBSc (N) students on 29th August 2024, at 4 pm by the adjunct faculty, Dr. Toni Bewley, Edgehill University, UK, on the topic ‘Care for newborns on ventilators in level III NICU’s. The Department of Fundamentals of Nursing and Pillar 3: Expanding Reach and Internationalization coordinated the session.
The topic was selected based on the need to understand ventilator care and how it differs from the Indian setting to the UK setting; Dr Toni, an experienced faculty member working with newborns, brought interesting discussion to the students. She highlighted caring for preterm babies by incorporating National Institute for Care and Excellence (NICE) guidelines. She also emphasized the challenges in caring for preterm babies and discussed the best practices adopted in the UK.
A total of 20 UG students and two faculty members attended the session. The session was attributed to Sustainable Development Goal 4, Quality Education.
