Global Symposium Series – 10 ‘Drug Policies and Challenges in Critical Care’
Global Symposium Series –10 on ‘Drug Policies and Challenges in Critical Care’ was organized by Team- Expanding Reach and Internationalization, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal, on November 6, 2021, from 2 pm to 4 pm.
Dr Vishal Shanbhag, Assistant Professor, Critical Care Medicine KMC Manipal, MAHE, delivered the session. He discussed the challenges of drug policies in ICU, the role of nurse educator, challenges for ICU nurses and clinical pharmacist role, quality and safety issues in critical care and drug error categorization. Based on a case scenario he discussed the challenges for the intensivist and the critical care nurses. He emphasized having medication reconciliation in the hospital to avoid medication errors and improve patient safety.
Dr Melita Sheilini Asst. Professor, Dept. of Medical-Surgical Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal moderated the session and Mrs Charlet Jasmine Vaz Lecturer Dept. of Fundamentals of Nursing managed the event. Dr Elsa Sanatombi Devi, Professor, Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing was the convener. A total of 96 professionals participated in this virtual symposium.
