August 14, 2024
The Department of Child Health Nursing at Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, in collaboration with the Departments of Neonatology and Paediatrics, KMC, Manipal, Nursing Services, KH Manipal, and the Indian Academy of Paediatrics, Udupi Branch, observed 'World Breastfeeding Week 2024.' The theme for this year was “Closing the Gap: Breastfeeding Support for All.” The week-long program, held from August 1 to 7, 2024, featured various activities to raise awareness and generate support for women in health facilities and workplaces. The initiative also advocated for strengthening existing programs that support working mothers. Breastfeeding is essential for a child's healthy future, serving as a foundation for the baby’s health and well-being. It contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) including poverty reduction, hunger alleviation, health and well-being, education, gender equality, and sustainable consumption.
