Report of Awareness Program on Electoral Voting

Manipal College of Nursing Manipal organised an awareness session on the topic 'Electoral Voting' on March 13, 2024, between 3.00 pm and 3.40 pm at the Basic Science building, 3rd floor, LH2, MAHE, Manipal. Dr. Elsa Sanatombi Devi, Professor, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal, introduced the resource person, Dr. Balakrishna S. Maddodi, Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, MIT. He sensitized the students to be responsible citizens. All the youth and citizens of the country need to enrol their names in the electoral list for voting, and Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) is controlled by the District Administration. He also emphasized viewing the website for Form No. 6 Election Commission website which each person needs to fill out and submit to the electoral committee. He also spoke about the importance of the voting system, its benefits, and educating others to vote to bring about change in our society by electing good leaders. “Mera Pehla Vote Desh ke Liye” for first-time voters was narrated. He also emphasized creating awareness through social media, skits, and blogs to inculcate good practices among people as responsible citizens. He encouraged students to cast votes, publicize them, and create mass awareness. Dr. Maddodi also invited students to participate in the SVEEP program. Oath-taking was led by Ms. Anna Maria Varghese. Dr Elsa Sanatombi Devi, Professor, Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing and convener for the Electoral Literacy Club MCON, coordinated the session and delivered the vote of thanks. A total of 125 students were present for the session.
